Dr. Patrick Kerchan holds Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine & Surgery (MBChB), Postgraduate Certificate of Public Health and Master of Science in International Public Health, Medical Officer licensed by the Uganda Medical & Dental Practitioners Council with nine years’  experience (Feb 2001 to Mar 2010) in clinical & surgical practice in a busy 200-bed general hospital of which eight years were at the managerial level that-involved the day-to-day running of hospital activities, overseeing the execution of donor-funded projects and Ministry of Health programs at the Health Sub District level. Dr. Kerchan served as the Head of Programs / Director at Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau (UPMB) from April 2010 to September 2020, where he coordinated the implementation of all health program/project activities. He is currently the Health Systems Strengthening & Membership Manager; a position held since October 2020 to date in which he supports over 330 UPMB Health Facilities on the Six Building Blocks of Health System for improved quality of health services delivery.
Dr. Kerchan is a member of the Ministry of Health (MOH) Public-Private Partnership in the Health Technical Working Group and was a member of the Steering Committee on Government/Donor aided projects such as the Strategic Purchasing of Health Services in Uganda (SPHU) project. Dr. Kerchan actively participates in mentoring Hospital Boards & Health Unit Management Committees in the UPMB network, he has also served on Private and Public Institutional Boards that included Joint Medical Store, UPMB and the National Medical Stores.
