Dr. Tonny Tumwesigye – Executive Director – UPMB

Dr. Tonny Tumwesigye - Executive DirectorDr. Tonny Tumwesigye is the Executive Director at Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau (UPMB).

Dr.  Tumwesigye holds a Master of Science Degree in Public Health and Post Graduate Diploma in Public Health from the University of London/London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine United Kingdom.

Dr. Tumwesigye also holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery Degree from Makerere University in Kampala Uganda.

Dr. Tumwesigye is an experienced Institutional and Programme Manager and has over 10 years of experience having worked as a frontline General practitioner in a rural and resource limited setting.

Dr. Patrick Kerchan – Head of Programs (UPMB)
Dr. Patrick Kerchan is a Medical Officer licensed with the Uganda Medical & Dental Practitioners council.

He has nine years clinical practice experience in a busy 200-bed rural general hospital eight years of which were at managerial level that involved day-to-day running of Kuluva hospital activities including overseeing the execution of donor-funded hospital projects and Ministry of Health program activities in Vurra and Upper Madi health sub district in Arua District. Currently.

He is the Head of Programs at Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau (UPMB) a position he has held for over three years, that involves the Planning, Coordination and evaluation of all health program activities at UPMB including creation of linkages with key stake holders. He has served on three boards i.e. Joint Medical Stores, UPMB and National Medical Stores (current).

Ms. Marina Baganizi – Finance Manager (UPMB)

 

Marina will be overseeing all the financial function of UPMB both at the Secretariat and the health facilities country wide. She is undertaking strategically handle the financial management planning for the organization as UPMB moves to a leading edge in the Health sector of the country.

Dr. Luke Lakidi – Program Manager – HIV/AIDS (UPMB)

Dr. Luke is a Program Manager –HIV/AIDS program at UPMB, and a Principal Investigator (PI) for the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) funded UPMB National Expansion and Strengthening of Sustainable HIV/AIDS Services in Uganda-(NESH) Project

Dr. Luke is responsible for supporting Ministry of Health (MOH) in scaling up Quality HIV care Services through the over 270 UPMB Members’ Health facilities. He therefore spearheads the planning and expansion of HIV programs within the UPMB networks.

Ms. Dorothy Nakyanzi – Human Resource Manager (UPMB)

Dorothy holds a master’s degree and a post graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management.

She is an  Enthusiastic, results oriented HR professional with extensive experience in planning and directing all areas of Human Resources that includes but  not limited to: benefits, compensation, employment law, employee relations, on-boarding, payroll, performance management, policy & procedures, recruitment, safety, supervision executing HR best practices to align the objectives of the organization while maximizing employee potential by fostering a positive work environment that promotes employee morale by developing interpersonal relationships within all levels of the organization utilizing attentiveness, trust, and respect.

 

Ms. Justine Mirembe  – Research & Grants Manager (UPMB)

At UPMB Justine manages the research processes including communicating and disseminating research findings for service deliverjustiney improvement. She also identifies programs funding needs, collaborative and networking opportunities, compiles applications and manages communications with donors.

She provides technical support on HIV and AIDS issues to the HIV program team and supports member health facilities. She also participates in liaising with relevant partners partners on behalf of UPMB.

Justine’s research interests include but are not limited to; Human Resources for Health, Health Systems, Management and Policy, Gender and Development, Sexual Reproductive Health Rights including Sexual and Gender Based Violence, Social movements and Faith Based Organizations and HIV treatment programs.
