News Strengthening Research Capacity Across UPMB Member Health Facilities and Training Institutions
Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau (UPMB) remains committed to advancing continuous professional development to support high-quality, demand driven research and innovation across its network.
In line with this commitment, UPMB conducted a comprehensive research capacity assessment targeting 33 Member Health Facilities (Hospitals
and HC IVs) and 17 Health Training Institutions (HTIs). The assessment aimed to establish the UPMB team engages Amudat Hospital leadership during a research assessment visit.
current level of research capacity, while identifying key gaps, barriers, and opportunities for strengthening research systems within these institutions.
The findings from this exercise will play a critical role in shaping future interventions. Specifically, they will inform tailored research capacity building initiatives, enhance engagement in research activities, and strengthen institutional systems for evidence generation and use.
Additionally, the insights generated will guide UPMB programs and support mechanisms, positioning member institutions to better participate in research, attract opportunities, and ultimately improve health outcomes.
Through this initiative, UPMB lays a strong foundation for a culture of research and innovation ensuring that evidence-driven approaches remain central to improving healthcare delivery.
