On the 24th March of every year, the world comes together to commemorate the World Tuberculosis (TB) Day. On this day, governments, health care providers and community actors across the world create awareness about the devastating impact of tuberculosis on health, society, and economies.
This year, Uganda commemorated this day on the 27th March 2024 at Kikagati Town Council in Isingiro District. Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau (UPMB) was privileged to join the rest of the country as we reflected on the progress, challenges and lessons in the fight to combat TB in Uganda.

The national theme for World TB Day 2024 – ‘Yes! We can end TB. Beat Leprosy’ – is a powerful message that underscores our collective determination to overcome this epidemic. As we commemorate this day, UPMB has made great strides in the fight against TB with funding from USAID and Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Uganda. As of 31 March, 2024, the organisation has managed to reach over 26,468 individuals with TB screening and treatment services.
